Some ruins can sing, others cry (2021)
“The ruins who can sing are not so old after all. We tend to forget how rough life was and all the effort bodies had to make. And then in this place there is this vapor which warms the calves and feels so soft. We shelter here around a vague memory, far cry from a time when women devoted their energy differently : the telluric forces, the wind melody, the floating voices, I wanted to convey all that. There will be tea for all.”
Immersive sound installation in public space : the old washing station ‘þvottalaugarnar’ in Reykjavík, Iceland (hot spring).
Using a vocal impro workshop session as sound material coming from both sides of the structure in hidden bulethoot speakers.
Adding objects (mirror, soap, bells, clothespin, cloth, teapot, flowers, spotlight and green light gelatine) over the space.
The ceremony became the last piece of the show ‘Space Invaders’ (october 2021). A walk was organized in the neighborhood,
seeing different works resulting from a public art course given by Berglind Jóna Hlynsdóttir.
